I stayed 2 days and 3 nights in Brownsville. An old Army buddy from San Antonio was there visiting in-laws over the holiday week. Here are some photos from the first day there.

The first one is at the Palo Alto Battlefield historic site, one of the battles of the Mexican War.

The next photo is a resaca, one of many oxbow lakes in Brownsville.

The next photo is a historic marker at the site of the Battle of Palmito Ranch, the last battle of the Civil War occurring after General Lee surrendered to General Grant.

The next shot is looking north off Texas 4, toward South Bay.

The spot of light is a lighthouse on the Mexico side of the Rio Grande. This was as close as I dared to drive at night.
