Unusual multiplex (upper photo, August 2006): for 1/4 mile in Putnam County, MO 139 and SR E share the road about 2 miles east of Powersville. This is a result of a realignment of MO 139 in 1996 along former SR JJ. MO 139 formerly went through Powersville prior to reaching the Iowa line. SR E now follows the former MO 139 route. The lower photo, taken November 2006, indicates a quick swap of sign shield just showing MO 139 without the direction. End of duplex visible in the background.
This marker is located as southbound MO 139 joins US 136 two miles east of Lucerne. US 136 was realigned for replacement of two bridges in the area. Notice the unusual font for the shield: a lowered Series C. The shield is the newer type. Photo taken August 2006.
